CUSTOM JEWELRY, DESIGNED AND HANDCRAFTED IN NASHVILLE

Create something uniquely your own.

Some of the most meaningful jewelry begins with a story—a stone you've been saving, a piece you've inherited, or an idea you've never quite been able to find.

At Margaret Ellis Jewelry, custom work is a personal collaboration with designer and owner Mclaine Richardson. Together, you'll create a piece that reflects your style, your story, and the way you want to wear it. Every piece is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted in our Nashville studio using traditional metalsmith techniques and exceptional materials.

The result is more than custom jewelry. It's something made specifically for you—and made to become part of your story.

ReimagineD JEWELRY

Some pieces are too meaningful to leave in a jewelry box.

An inherited ring. Your grandmother's brooch. A necklace you once loved, but no longer wear. Stones tucked away because you can't bear to part with them.

Mclaine sees these pieces not as finished objects, but as possibilities.

Existing jewelry can be reimagined into something entirely new while preserving what makes it meaningful. A treasured stone might become the center of a completely different design. Existing metal may become part of the new piece. Or the original jewelry may simply inspire something fresh.

The goal isn't to recreate the past. It's to carry its meaning forward.

The Custom Process

1 — Bring Us What You Have
Bring your idea, inherited jewelry, unworn ME pieces, gemstones, pearls, or simply what you're thinking about creating. You don't need to have it all figured out.

2 — Start With a Conversation
You and Mclaine will talk about what you're looking for—what you want the finished piece to feel like, how you want to wear it, and what matters most to you. Conversations can happen online or in person.

3 — Develop the Design
Together, you'll explore the look, materials, gemstones, and details of the piece, along with your budget, to arrive at a design that feels distinctly yours.

4 — Handcrafted in Nashville
Once the design is finalized, experienced metalsmiths bring it to life by hand in our Berry Hill studio using traditional techniques. Along the way, we'll share updates and images of the process and check in as your piece takes shape.

5 — Made to Become Part of Your Story
The finished piece is uniquely yours—made to be worn, loved, and cherished today, while perhaps become an heirloom that will be passed along for generations to come.

Mclaine Richardson began working with Margaret Ellis in 2009 and purchased the company in 2013, carrying forward a jewelry-making tradition that began in Nashville in 1983 while developing her own distinctive creative voice.

Her work draws on a love of art, history, fashion, and traditional metalsmithing. She believes jewelry should feel personal—not simply beautiful—and that the most successful pieces become inseparable from the people who wear them.
