Modern yet timeless, classic yet innovative. Art designed to be worn for generations to come. These terms truly describe the jewelry created by one of Nashville's premier design firms, Margaret Ellis Jewelry. I spent a recent afternoon inside their Cummins Station workshop and showroom with John and Alden. Enjoy this look at some of my favorites ME pieces from one of Nashville’s best local brands.

Margaret Ellis established her jewelry design company in 1983. Upon Margaret Ellis' retirement in early 2013, the company was purchased by longtime Margaret Ellis metalsmith and designer Mclaine Richardson. Mclaine's creative team includes master metalsmiths Edward Tomlin and Anjy Smith. Tomlin studied jewelry design at Atlanta School of Art and Penland Craft Center and has been a part of Margaret Ellis since its inception. Smith studied fashion at Nossi School of Art and learned jewelry design after joining Margaret Ellis in 1991. Mclaine, the owner and a talented designer in her own right, has successfully curated a strong household name for Nashville's growing fashion community.

Inspired by art history, travel, nature, and years of past Margaret Ellis designs, every piece is not only distinctively branded and meticulously crafted, but unique and heirloom-quality, appealing to all ages. "The designs continually evolve. but our focus will always be on the people who love and collect our pieces. Whether worn with jeans or an evening gown, Margaret Ellis Jewelry is a vivid reminder that every day is a special occasion." The firm also offers customs designs and weddings rings, utilizing both hand-selected and heirloom stones and pearls and precious metals. Margaret Ellis is also committed to sustainability and local production with the fine metal recycled and stones are ethically sourced.

There’s so much more to come from Margaret Ellis Jewelry, with pieces created right here in Nashville showcased in high-profile editorials and red carpet events, and sold in select high-end boutiques throughout the world. And the growing local fashion community is fortunate to have their influence extend beyond Nashville.
