(continued)
I first started making jewelry in a corner of
our living room. Now I work in a beautiful studio
in Cummins Station, an old, renovated freight
warehouse building in downtown Nashville. One
of the greatest blessings that has come to me
as a result of my work is the people who work
with me. My husband Fred handles the business,
and we have a staff of three master craftspeople
who produce the jewelry that I design. Edward
Tomlin has worked with me since the beginning.
Rose Hillis and Anjy Smith have been here since
they finished school. All three have trained
here, and I am very proud of them.
I think that jewelry fills a deep primal need.
It should connect with the wearer emotionally
and spiritually. Beautiful, personal, easy to
wear jewelry tells the world who you are.
When I feel like I need a little lift, nothing
cheers me up like putting on a special piece
of jewelry. I hope that every woman who owns
a piece of my work feels this same joy. |
